Dr. Manmohan Singh’s residence at 3, Motilal Nehru Road in Lutyens Delhi is filled with sorrow as visitors gather for his last darshan. The former Prime Minister passed away at AIIMS at the age of 92, after a long and impactful political career. His mortal remains arrived at his residence around 1 am, and a sense of grief fills the atmosphere.

Singh lived at this bungalow for nearly a decade after his tenure as Prime Minister, which began in 2004. The bungalow was once the residence of Delhi’s former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit before Singh moved in. Following his passing, the government has declared seven days of state mourning across the country, with flags flown at half-mast in tribute.

Police barricades now surround the residence, marking the somber mood. His family and supporters continue to gather to honor his legacy. Singh, known for his calm demeanor and wise leadership, played an instrumental role in shaping India’s economic policies. President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar have paid tribute to him, as have Prime Minister Modi and Congress leaders.

In a heartfelt tribute, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged Singh’s contribution to India’s economy and his distinguished leadership. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted Singh’s silent work ethic and his lasting impact on the nation. Rahul Gandhi, too, expressed sorrow, recalling how Singh’s intelligence and humility guided India through critical times.

Today, as the country mourns, the government has canceled all major events, including the Congress foundation day celebrations, in respect of the late leader’s memory.
