Hearing in Shaheen Bagh case deferred to March 23
New Delhi , Feb 26 (HS): The Supreme Court deferred the hearing of the petition related to the Shaheen Bagh demonstration till 23 March. The court said that it was not the right time to hear this petition.
The Kalindi Kunj road that joins Delhi to Noida, is closed for more than 70 days now. A hearing was held in the Supreme Court today in this regard where the court said that public road was not for demonstration.
Keeping in view the tense atmosphere in Delhi, the hearing of the case has been postponed to 23 March. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta opposed this. He argued that we could not discourage the police.
The Supreme Court said that more than 13 people have died which was a very serious matter. The police should do their work.
The court said that the present petition will not include the case of violence in Delhi. A separate petition can be filed on that subject. The court further said that Delhi High Court has already issued notice to the police in this matter.
