Haryana sues Kejriwal over ‘Poisoned’ water claim!
Haryana has filed a case against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for claiming the state is supplying “poisoned” water to Delhi. The move escalates the political battle over Yamuna river water.
On Wednesday, Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goel announced the legal action. He said the government took Kejriwal’s statement seriously and filed the case in a Sonipat court under the Disaster Management Act.
Goel slammed Kejriwal’s remarks as absurd and misleading. He urged the Election Commission to act against such baseless claims. “Kejriwal is playing cheap politics. Haryana had no choice but to take legal action,” he said. He emphasized that the same water reaches the President, Prime Minister, and Union Ministers.
Accusing Kejriwal of fearmongering, Goel said his false claims created panic in both Delhi and Haryana. He alleged that Kejriwal was trying to save his political image ahead of elections. “He says he stopped ‘poisonous water’ from entering Delhi, but there’s no proof. This is his usual tactic to hide failures,” Goel added.
The case falls under Sections 2(D) and 54 of the Disaster Management Act. These sections penalize those who spread false alarms or warnings that cause public fear.
The political clash over Delhi’s water supply continues, with both sides refusing to back down.
