Hamas Vows to ‘Keep Up the Fight’ Against Israel on 7th Anniversary of Oct 1 Attacks
Hamas has vowed to continue its “long war of attrition” against Israel, marking the anniversary of its October 7 attack. Abu Obeida, spokesperson for Hamas’ armed wing, stated, “We choose to keep up the fight in a long war of attrition, one that is painful and costly for the enemy.” He acknowledged the worsening psychological and health conditions of hostages taken into Gaza during the attack.
The October 7 attack last year resulted in the deaths of 1,206 people, based on Israeli figures. Hamas militants took 251 hostages into Gaza, of which 97 remain, including 34 confirmed dead. Hamas emphasized that the attack, led by Jordanian forces, had opened a new “authentic front” in the conflict.
The group’s commitment to the ongoing conflict reinforces the tense and escalating situation between Israel and Hamas, with hostages still in dire conditions.
