GRSE delivers the 4th Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette to Indian Navy..

Kolkata, Feb 19 (HS): Kolkata headquartered Miniratna Category 1  public sector company Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) has delivered its last  Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvettes (ASWC) ‘Kavaratti’ to the Indian Navy. The ship is the 104th Warship built and delivered by GRSE since its inception in 1960 and is the last  ASWC under the current project.
Rear Admiral VK Saxena, IN (Retd.), Chairman and Managing Director, GRSE formally handed over the vessel to Cdr. Sandeep Singh, Commanding Officer (Design)of the ship, in  presence of Commador  DK Goswami, CEO, Chairman, Eastern Naval Command  and several other Senior Officials of Indian Navy and GRSE at a ceremony at the GRSE  naval yard
Under the same project the first three ships of the same series, INS Kamorta, INS Kadmatt, and INS Kiltan were delivered earlier which have now formed an integral part of Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy. The P 28 Class of ships strengthens the Indian Defence System and is the shining Armor in the “Make in India” program.
Speaking on the occasion Rear Admiral  Saxena said the first 03 Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvettes built by GRSE had been creating waves across the world and participated in several overseas operations and International Maritime Exhibitions at Malaysia, Singapore and other countries including International Fleet Reviews.
Equipped to fight in Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare conditions, featuring the integration of a host of weapons and sensors, the P 28 Class of ships was another milestone in the journey towards self – reliance and Make In India, he said.
