
Lucknow, 14 March (HS) : A grand and splendid wedding ceremony of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati was celebrated with religious fervour at Om Namah Shivay Ashram in Lucknow on Sunday. A day long huge bhandara was also organised in the ashram for the devotees and others.
The devotes earlier took out a grand Shiv Baraat procession, which was being led by the chariot of Lord Shiva. It was followed by Gods and vedic Rishis in various tableaux. As soon as the baraat reached the ashram, the devotees accorded a traditional warm welcome. Thereafter the marriage of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati was organised in real way amids vedic rituals of wedding ceremony. Himalaya, the father of Goddess Parvati and mother Maina Devi performed Kanyadan.
All the rituals were performed by Acharya Krishna Dev Pandey. The women on the occasion presented mangal geet (ceremonial songs) and the girls performed devotional dance and play.
The Guruji of the Om Namah Shivay Ashram, on the occasion said that the devotees will have to focus on Indian culture to strengthen the Sanatan Dharma. He said that the worship of Lord Shiva fulfills all the wishes of human being. Rudraabhishek and other rituals were also performed in the ashram on the day.
A large number of devotees from different districts including Lucknow, Prayagraj, Barabanki and Kanpur participated in the event.
