Grammys 2025: Indian-American Chandrika Tandon triumphs over Ricky Kej, Anoushka Shankar
Indian-American vocalist and entrepreneur Chandrika Tandon won the Grammy for her album Triveni in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category. The 67th edition of the Grammys took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday. Tandon, who is also a business leader, took home the award with her collaborators: South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto.
“It feels amazing,” Tandon said in a backstage interview with the Recording Academy. She grew up in Chennai and is the older sister of former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.
Tandon’s album Triveni stood out among notable nominees in the category, including Break of Dawn by Ricky Kej, Opus by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn by Anoushka Shankar, and Warriors of Light by Radhika Vekaria.
“We had such wonderful nominees in the category. The fact that we won is truly special. We were surrounded by fabulous musicians,” she added. The 2025 Grammys streamed live in India on Disney+ Hotstar.
