Govt calls an all-party meeting

New Delhi, June 13 (HS): The government has called an all-party meeting on June 16, a day  before the commencement of the first Parliament session in the newly elected Lok Sabha.
This meeting would be followed by a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders in the Parliament in the evening to discuss strategies for the upcoming session.
The BJP Parliamentary Party Executive Committee meeting would also be held in the evening later that day.
The Modi government is likely to seek support from the opposition parties on getting important bills passed in this session which includes Triple Talaq Bill among other bills which had already been approved by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.
Besides Triple Talaq Bill, others bills include The Central Educational Institutions (Reservations in Teachers Cadre Bill) 2019, Aadhaar and other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
The first session of the 17th Lok Sabha would be convened from June 17 to July 26. The Speaker of the lower house would be appointed on June 19. The Union Budget would be presented by the newly elected Modi government on July 5.
Earlier, Prahlad Joshi and several Union ministers from the Modi government met various opposition leaders including United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad seeking their support for smooth functioning of the Parliament session.
The ruling NDA government would table the bill concerned with reforms in Labour laws. A total of 44 labour laws would be kept in four categories and several old laws would be abolished.
President Ram Nath Kovind would address the sittings of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on June 20.
