GJEPC donates another Rs 21 crores for fight against COVID-19
Kolkata,02 April(HS): After contributing Rs. 50 Crores on 27 March to help the needy workers of the industry impacted by COVID-19, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the apex body of over Rs 5 lakh crore worth of industry, today committed Rs 21 crores to the Prime Minister’s Emergency Relief Fund for the welfare of the nation at this critical time.
Announcing the Council’s decision to come forward with more assistance GJEPC Chairman Promod Agarwal today said the ‘Nation is facing an unprecedented crisis and needs the service of all organizations and their resources like never before. In such times, the Council steps forward to show its solidarity and ardent support towards the initiatives undertaken by Govt of India to Fight Covid- 19′.
He said though the economic situation of the country and that of several industries had taken a severe beating,’ we have called upon our members, trade associates, Gem and Jewellery associations to come forward and donate generously to the PM-CARES Fund to which they responded overwhelmingly’.
