Girl child falls into borewell in MP’s Sehore, rescue operation continues for 18 hours
Bhopal, June 7 (HS): A rescue operation has been going on for 18 hours to rescue a two-and-a-half-year-old girl who fell into the open pit of a borewell in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. With the help of more than 10 JCBs and Poklen, a parallel pit is being dug at a distance of five feet.
The NDRF and SDRF teams are engaged in the rescue operation along with the local police administration. This area is rocky. Up until Wednesday morning, only 28 feet of digging had been done.
SDM Amna Mishra said that on Tuesday afternoon, the two-and-a-half-year-old daughter of Rahul Kushwaha, a resident of village Mungavali in the district, fell into an open borewell pit while playing in the nearby field. As soon as the information was received, the district administration started the rescue operation on a war footing.
He told me that oxygen is being supplied through pipes inside the borewell. Other essential equipment, including ambulances, is available on the spot. In-charge Collector Ashish Tiwari, SP Mayank Awasthi, DIG Monika Shukla, and other officers are present at the spot.
District Panchayat CEO Ashish Tiwari said that the girl who fell in a borewell about 300 feet deep was trapped 29 feet below. By Wednesday morning, it had reached 50 feet below. At present, the baby has stopped moving. The stones found below in the excavation are very hard. A drill machine with Poklen is being used to break them. That’s why the rescue is not progressing quickly. Efforts are also being made to pull the girl up through the hook.
