Gerald Peyton appointed assistant coach of Odisha FC
Bhubaneswar , June 27 (HS) Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Odisha FC, has appointed Gerald Peyton as the team’s assistant coach ahead of the seventh edition of the tournament. Former Arsenal goalkeeping coach Peyton has joined the club on a two-year deal.
The 64- year-old former footballer has played for many prestigious clubs such as West Ham United , Everton , Fulham and Chelsea and was a member of Arsenal , Fulham’s coaching teams.
Club President Rohan Sharma said in an official statement, “We are thrilled to have Coach Gerry’s equalizer in the club this year. His 15 years of experience at Arsenal will help the boys , especially our goalkeepers. He is the kind of person who can help us achieve excellence. “
Before joining Orissa FC , the Irish national team’s former goalkeeper Payton was assistant manager of Japanese club Shimiju S-Pulse.
On joining the club, Gerald said, “I look forward to working with my friend and colleague Stuart Baxter in India along with all the staff and players. Together we aim to push Odisha FC to the top.”
Earlier this week , the club tied up with youngster Paul Ramfungjouva and winger Isak Vanlalarufaela for the upcoming season.
