Kolkata, Jun.22 (HS): The death of a class ten student of a leading English medium girls school in South Kolkata under mysterious circumstances yesterday, took a new turn today after the police and the investigating officials interrogated a number of her school teachers to find out further clues and the motive behind her alleged decision to take her own life in a horrific manner.
A 15 year old class ten student of that reputed English medium school in Ranikuthi area on the southern fringe of the city, was found lying dead in a poll of blood inside a washroom of the school yesterday afternoon after she was found missing for nearly two hours during the school hours.
The victim Krittika Pal who reportedly looked absolutely normal till the first four periods of her classes and talked to her classmates quite freely and like in any other normal day, went to the washroom during recess and went missing since then.
After nearly two hours when she was not found anywhere else, the door of the washroom was broke open by the school authority to find in their utter horror that Krittika was lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut mark in her right hand wrist and her face covering with a plastic packet.
Though she was rushed to a nearby private hospital by the school teachers, she was pronounced brought dead by the doctors.
Though according to preliminary investigation, police thought it was yet another case of suicide and believed that the girl took her own life.
But following a thorough investigation and the receipt of her postmortem report today, a new investigation started by the Criminal Investigation Department officials who also interrogated a few school teaches including the head mistress of the school.
Following the recovery of a an alleged ‘suicide note’ from near the body of the deceased it was believed that the girl was allegedly suffering from a deep depression for sometime, the reasons for which was not yet known, the police said.
‘We also plan to talk to the parents of the child for the sake of our investigation’, said one of the investigating officials who described the incident as ‘very uncommon and unfortunate as the girl always stood first in her classes and that there was no apparent reason for taking her own life in such a brutal manner’.
It may be recalled that the same school was rocked by a sex scandal by one of its male teachers about two years ago leading to a huge public outcry.
