During a strategic dialogue between India and France, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and French President Emmanuel Macron’s advisors confirmed a major development. The French defense giant Safran Group is ready to set up its first defense electronics unit outside France, choosing India as the location. This move highlights the deepening defense ties between the two nations.

Safran’s decision aligns with broader discussions that also focused on advanced materials and metallurgy. France agreed to collaborate with India on manufacturing critical parts for military and civilian engines. In addition to Safran’s facility, Dassault Aviation is already building a maintenance and repair center for Rafale fighter jets in Uttar Pradesh.

Moreover, France committed to jointly developing unmanned sub-surface, surface, and aerial systems with India. They will also assist India in advancing counter-swarm and armed drone technologies, further boosting the nation’s defense capabilities.

The dialogue also covered cyber security, space applications, and the co-development of stand-off weapons, underscoring the growing partnership in cutting-edge defense technology.
