Former EC Ashok Lavasa appointed as VP of Asian Development Bank
New Delhi, July 15, (HS) Former Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa, a 1980 Batch retired IAS officer, has been appointed as vice-president of Asian Development Bank (ADB).
He will succeed Diwakar Gupta, whose term will end on August 31.
The Asian Development Bank on Wednesday said, “ADB has appointed Ashok Lavasa as Vice-President for Private Sector Operations and Public-Private Partnerships. He will succeed Diwakar Gupta, whose term will end on August 31.”
Lavasa retired on superannuation as Union Finance Secretary, prior to his appointment as Election Commissioner. Earlier, he has also been posted as Union Secretary for Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change and also with Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Ashok Lavasa assumed his charge as Election Commissioner of India on January 23, 2018. He retired as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Haryana cadre (Batch 1980).
