First Skin Black Fungus Case reported from Chitradurga district in Karnataka
Chitradurga(Karnataka),01 June(HS): The first Skin Black fungus case in the country has been reported from the Chitradurga district headquarters, according to Dr NB Pralhad, ENT surgeon here.
The infection has been detected with a 50 years old person who had been recovering from Covid-19. A blood sugar patient, he had come to the hospital for an injury at the ear portion. He was under the assumption that the injury was caused due to the continuous wearing of a mask. However, on examination, it was found that he had been infected with Skin Black fungus.
Dr NB Pralhad of the Karnataka ENT Hospital and Research Centre here disclosed that the person had come to the hospital complaining of pain behind his right ear. But on close examination and testing of the injured portion, it was concluded as a typical case of Skin Black fungus.
He also clarified that surgery has been performed to remove the infected portion while he is being summoned for skin grafting soon.
Dr NB Pralhad also informed of having successfully treated 18 Black fungus cases in the private hospital while the overall number of such cases being treated in the district remained at 48.
