First leased parcel cargo train in Chennai division flagged off

Tamil Nadu: Chennai, January 18 (HS)Chennai division of Southern Railway turned center of attraction yesterday when it flagged off its first leased parcel cargo express train (PCET) between Royapuram and Patel Nagar.
Chennai division was awarded a contract for running leased parcel cargo express train Train No 00653/00654, to be run between Royapuram and Patel Nager on a weekly basis.
P.Mahesh, Divisional Railway Manager of Chennai division inaugurated the parcel loading and flagged off the maiden run of PCET. 
Subramanian, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division, Dr. Vijayamala, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Hari Krishnan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager-II were present during the inauguration.
Prabhu Prem Kumar, Divisional Commercial Manager and his team personally monitored the loading activities.
The PCET between Royapuram-Patel Nagar-Royapram by Khanna Logistics left Royapuram railway station on it’s maiden trip to Patel Nagar yesterday.
The tenure of the contract is six years. With this contract, the division will garner a revenue of Rs. 22 lakhs per round trip.
This PECET will be operated between Royapuram to Patel Nagar on every Sunday and back on every Friday. 
This train will originate from Royapuram every Sunday at 8.30 pm having the intermediate loading / unloading stoppages at Gudur, Bhopal, Nagpur, Bhopal, Agra cantonment and Patel Nagar and this train will reach Patel Nagar on every Tuesday at 2.45 pm.
On return direction the train will leave Patel Nagar every Wednesday at 6.00 pm and will reach Royapuram by 12.30 pm every Friday.
This parcel train will have intermediate loading / unloading stoppages at Agra Cantonment, Bhopal, Nagpur, Vijayawada and Gudur.
Initially the PCET will run with 15 VPs and one SLR and will transport 353 tonnes at one go.
The number of VPs will be increased to 20 subsequently as per policy.
With one trip per week, revenue of Rs. 13 crores is expected in the first year and a minimum of Rs. 99 crores revenue expected in the entire contract period.
