First batch of COVID vaccine reaches Lucknow, vaccination to begin on Jan 16
Lucknow, 12 January (HS) : The first batch of COVID vaccine reached Lucknow, the state capital of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The Health Minister of UP Mr Jai Pratap Singh received the vaccine at the Lucknow airport. It was later sent to the storage center.
The minister on the occasion said that in the first batch 1.60 lakh doses of the vaccine arrived here by a special Indigo plane. It would be used for vaccination in Lucknow division, he said adding that the vaccine for other districts will be reaching within a couple of days.
Mr Singh said that the drive of vaccination will start in the state from January 16. Vaccination of health workers will be done in the first phase. He said that all the preparations for vaccination have been completed. The vaccination drive will be conducted through 852 centres, he added.
