FIR lodged against former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav
Lucknow, 13 March (HS) : The Uttar Pradesh police on Saturday lodged an FIR against Samajwadi Party Chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and 20 others for allegedly attacking media persons at Moradabad recently. The Samajwadi Party has also registered a counter FIR against two journalists in this connection.
The ADG Law & order of UP Prashant Kumar said here today that both the FIRs have been lodged after complaints received from both sides. The Journalists’s Association in its complaints has named Akhilesh Yadav and 20 Samajwadi Party workers, he said adding that the SP’s Moradabad district unit president has included the names of two journalists in the FIR.
Mr Kumar said that the investigation in both the cases is underway. Police is scanning the footage from the CCTV camera in order to probe the charges, he added.
It may be mentioned here that some journalists were injured when Akhilesh Yadav’s security personnel and SP workers had allegedly attacked the media persons after a press conference held in Moradabad on March 11.
