Fadnavis resigns as Maharashtra chief minister before floor test
Mumbai, Nov 26 (HS): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced his resignation. Devendra Fadnavis said in a press conference in Mumbai that Ajit Pawar came to me some time ago and he said that for some reason I cannot be part of your alliance. Ajit Pawar resigned me. I do not have a majority after Ajit Pawar’s resignation. So, I am going to submit my resignation to the Governor right now.
Devendra Fadnavis said that the people of Maharashtra gave a mandate to the BJP-Shiv Sena. Our 105 MLAs won, that is, our candidates won 67 percent of the seats. We were ready to form the government but Shiv Sena started playing the number game and bargaining. After this, Shiv Sena started demanding the chief minister’s post, while this did not happen. Amit Shah had never promised the post of CM for two and a half years.
Devendra Fadnavis said that we hope that the new government will do a good job. We will do our work as the opposition. He said that Shiv Sena leaders are bowing down in front of Sonia Gandhi in helplessness. Running a three-wheeled government is quite difficult. Devendra Fadnavis said that the Shiv Sena was adamant about promises we had never made.
Devendra Fadnavis said, we waited for him (Shiv Sena) for a long time but he did not give any answer and instead talked to Congress-NCP. Those who did not step outside the Thackeray residence to meet anyone were going door to door with the NCP and Congress to form the government. He said I will go to Raj Bhavan and resign myself. I wish all those who will form the government but it will be a very unstable government because there are many differences.
