Ex-UK PM Rishi Sunak & family meet PM Modi

Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is visiting India. On Tuesday, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen India-UK relations. Modi called Sunak a good friend of India. Sunak’s family joined him during the meeting.

Modi shared pictures on social media, writing, “It was a pleasure to meet former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his family. We had a wonderful and meaningful discussion on many topics.” He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening bilateral ties.

Sunak’s wife, Akshata Murthy, daughters Krishna and Anushka, and mother-in-law, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy, accompanied him. During their visit, they toured the Parliament House in Delhi, where Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh welcomed them. They also visited the Taj Mahal in Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, and the Jaipur Literature Festival.

Sunak met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss financial cooperation and economic growth between India and the UK. The Finance Ministry described the meeting as significant and shared on social media, “Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Rishi Sunak discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral economic relations.”

Sunak emphasized his deep bond with India. “India and Britain have historically had strong relations, and I want to see these relations grow further,” he said.
