Authorities airdropped essential supplies to avalanche-hit Kumar village in Pangi, Chamba, on Thursday. The relief package included blankets, tarpaulins, kitchen utensils, solar lights, shoes, warm clothes, food, and medicines. The district administration and DDMA carried out the operation after an avalanche blocked roads, cutting off access to vital services.

A landslide on Thursday also blocked the Chamba-Tissa main road near Pukhri, worsening connectivity issues.

Residents in remote Pangi are struggling, especially patients needing urgent care. Local youths carried 53-year-old Sher Singh on a makeshift stretcher for 16 km through deep snow to Killar, where he was hospitalized. The journey took 10 hours, showing the severity of the crisis.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh saw dry weather in the last 24 hours. Moderate fog covered Mandi, and gusty winds hit Tabo. The meteorological department warned of a fresh Western Disturbance from March 9, bringing rain and snow until March 12.
