ER signed MoU with RITES and ECL for setting up 100 toilets in Railway stations
Kolkata, 4 June (HS) Eastern Railway here today joined hands with Eastern Coal Fields Limited (ECL) and RITES to construct and install toilets in 100 station compounds under Eastern Railway’s jurisdiction at a total estimated cost of Rs. 26 crores .
For this purpose a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was signed by Anuj Mittal, Chief Planning and Design Engineer on behalf of Eastern Railway, R. K. Srivastava, General Manager did so for Eastern Coal Fields Limited and P. R. Kumar, General Manager for RITES. S. S. Ghelot, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway was also present among others.
Speaking on the occasion Ghelot said the agreement was signed for making significant efforts towards ‘Swachh Bharat’ aviyan to make railway premises cleaner eliminating the tendency of open defecation.
Though the toilets will be set up within the station complex,those may also be used by common people.A number of condom and sanitary napkin vending machines would also be installed besides those toilets.
