ER and SER maintain supply chain fully operational despite locked down

Kolkata, 31 March (HS): In order to ensure the country’s supply chain fully operational in the present critical time when the entire nation  is under locked down, Kolkata headquartered both Eastern and South Eastern Railways have been working round the clock to ensure availability of essential commodities through their uninterrupted freight services.

The ER and SER sources informed here today that during the past couple of days more than 1250 wagons were loaded with essential commodities to supply rice, sugar, pulses, salt and edible oils etc. across the country.

In accordance with the Railway ministry guidelines all these commodities were being handed over to the state authorities on daily basis to maintain the supply chain and ensure that there was no shortfall of such goods anywhere, the sources informed.
