Environment Minister says in Lok Sabha – If everyone plants 7 trees, we can build our own oxygen bank
New Delhi, Nov 22(HS): Discussion on air pollution and climate change under Rule 193 was held in the Lok Sabha. After discussion, the Lok Sabha Speaker invited Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar to reply. Beginning their discussion, the Environment Minister said that thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion. We will definitely consider the suggestions that come.
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar further said that we have decided that we will reduce 33 percent emission intensity. For this, we changed the standards of all industries and asked everyone to bring new technology to monitor carbon emissions. 22 percent have reached today. We have also kept a big objective for constructing forest. No country has set such a goal of increasing the forest. Green cover of only two countries is increasing, one of which is India, we should be proud of it.
In his reply, Javadekar further said that we are walking on our path, now the world has to go. Next month I will go to Spain where I will keep that India is on its way. Developing countries should get technology. You are watching the metro of Delhi. The first line was formed in 2003. There are 274 stations, 50 lakh people travel. Some trees had to be cut, but our policy is that if you cut one tree, you have to plant 5. Those trees also increased, the forest also increased and the pollution also decreased. This is a sustainable model. We also have to do both development and protecting the environment.
In 2015, PM Modi brought the Air Quality Index to India and started collecting data from many places. Geography is also an issue. Why is it that the pollution in the Ganges region is high because the Ganges brings moisture, the Himalayas bring moisture, so the wind creates problems.
The Union Minister further said that we worked on the industry. Badarpur power plant closed. Other industries were given new standards. Furnace oil banned. 2800 industries shifted to CNG. Brick kilns shifted to Jikjack technology. Distributed 40 crores LED bulbs. Ujjwala brought the scheme. This reduced pollution. The government made a highway for Delhi. The metro is now 600 kilometers in the country and is becoming 600 kilometers. 1 crore people are traveling right now. In the coming time, 2 crore people will travel by the metro. The public has received the subsidy for 3 lakh 28 thousand e-vehicles. He further said that the biggest change was made with the Peripheral Expressway in Delhi. Due to this, the vehicles used to give pollution to Delhi are going out. Pollution is also very high. Construction rules are tightened. Boyo is working on mass burning. People are burning garbage in Delhi. The Government of India has given the machine for the stubble.
In 2020, BS6 grade fuel will be available across the country. This will reduce pollution considerably. We made a city space plan. Every city plan is becoming different. It is imagined that the pollution of every city is reduced. People also have a role in this. There are 7 trees for the amount of oxygen we take for life. So today if we take a pledge that if we plant at least 7 trees, then everyone can build their own oxygen bank. We are going to start a nursery in school. So that children can plant their tree and take it as a reward with the result and plant it at their house or somewhere around it.
