Election Commission Clears 256 Cases of Code Breach in 100 Minutes
The Maharashtra Election Commission quickly disposed of 256 out of 420 complaints received via its C-Vigil app. The complaints, related to violations of the Model Code of Conduct, were filed between October 15 and 18. The Commission acted swiftly, resolving these cases within 100 minutes.
The Assembly elections were announced on October 15, triggering the enforcement of the Code of Conduct. Most of the complaints came from Thane District, which saw the highest number of violations.
In addition to handling complaints, government agencies seized cash, liquor, drugs, and other valuable items following the implementation of the code. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at Rs 1064 lakh. These actions reflect the authorities’ efforts to ensure fair elections and curb illegal activities during the campaign period.
By addressing complaints promptly and cracking down on violations, the Election Commission aims to maintain transparency and fairness in the election process. As the election approaches, strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct is crucial to prevent any form of misconduct.
