Efforts will made to include Kabaddi in Olympics: Kiran Rijiju

New Delhi, 20 March (HS): Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju said that efforts will be made to include Kabaddi in the Olympics. During the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Rijiju said that the Central Government is encouraging indigenous games and has recognized Kabaddi.
Replying to a question in Lok Sabha today, he said that the selection process was important in sports. Apart from being transparent, there should not be any discrimination in it.
It is noteworthy that earlier on Thursday, the Sports Minister said on the postponement of IPL till April 15 due to Coronavirus, the decision on the future of the 13th season will be taken only after April 15.
The ministry said that a new advisory will be issued after April 15, only after looking at the current situation due to the dreaded coronavirus. The Sports Minister said that after April 15, the government will issue a new advisory according to the situation.
The BCCI deals with cricket issues and is not an Olympic sport. The IPL was supposed to start on March 29 but the BCCI has postponed it till April 15 due to Corona virus.
On 12 March, the Ministry of Sports had issued information that due to coronavirus all domestic tournaments are canceled and if it is necessary to organize the tournament, it should be done without audience. The Delhi government was one step ahead of the central government. It has banned IPL only in Delhi by 31 March.
