Eastern Railway initiates measures to prevent spread of COVID-19
Kolkata, 16 March (HS): As part of its continuing efforts to prevent the spread of Coronavirus among the passengers or Railway employees, Eastern Railway has undertaken a number of steps including the public awareness programme about how to check the spread of the killer disease in this part of the country.
Apart from sanitizing all coaches of every Express and Mail train coming from Delhi, Mumbai and other parts of the country,the ER’s Malda Division have been distributing leaflets among the people about the protective steps from COVID- 19.
In addition continuous public announcements are being made about the danger of the disease at every Railway station and other premises.Steps have also been taken to sanitize both Malda and Bhagalpur coaching depots.
In Howrah Division apart from all public awareness programme, hand sanitisers are also being provided to passengers even at local trains. Similar awareness programmes and preventive measures have also been taken in all other Divisions including at Asansol and Sealdah Divisions and at all workshops at Jamalpur, Kanchrapara and Liluah, ER sources here today informed.
“We have also set up fully equipped Isolation Ward at Eastern Railway’s B.R. Singh Hospital here along with similar facilities at ER’s all other Divisional Railway Hospitals in Howrah, Asansol and Malda,” the sources said adding all testing Laboratories had also been activated.
