Doctor and 6 Workers Killed in Tragic Terror Attack in J&K

Terrorists opened fire at a construction site in Gagangir, Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, killing a doctor and six construction workers. The victims, who were non-local laborers, had been working on an under-construction tunnel for a private company. The attack, which took place on Sunday, has been condemned as “dastardly and cowardly” by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He also expressed hope for the swift recovery of the injured, who have been transferred to SKIMS hospital in Srinagar.

The terrorists targeted a camp where the workers were housed. Security forces, including the police and army, quickly cordoned off the area to hunt down the attackers. The Jammu and Kashmir Police posted about the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, confirming the security operation and promising updates.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also condemned the attack, labeling it “horrific.” He emphasized that the workers were contributing to a critical infrastructure project, underscoring the senselessness of the violence. Gadkari paid tribute to the victims and extended condolences to their families while offering prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The attack has sparked outrage and grief across the region, as authorities work to bring those responsible to justice and ensure the safety of others working in the area. The security forces remain on high alert, continuing their search for the perpetrators of this tragic event.
