Diwali lights up the White House: A Celebration of Culture!

At the ceremony’s conclusion, attendees exchanged heartfelt wishes, saying “Happy Diwali” while shaking hands and embracing the festive spirit. President Joe Biden took the opportunity to commend Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running in the presidential election.
In a video shared on the White House’s X account, Biden expressed his sentiments: “My wife, Jill Biden, wanted to be here, but she is in Wisconsin. Kamala is also traveling. I chose Kamala as my political successor for many reasons. She is smart, strong, and trustworthy. She has more experience than Trump.”
This year, Diwali celebrations in the USA span about ten days, bringing joy to communities from Times Square in Manhattan to Pennsylvania. The Indian-American community, along with their American friends, joined together to celebrate the festival. Recently, the Indian Consulate in New York highlighted the gathering in Times Square, where attendees rejoiced in the festivities.
Consul General of India in New York, Binay Pradhan, participated in the Times Square celebration, greeting attendees with enthusiasm. The event also attracted notable figures such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Meanwhile, Deputy Consul General Varun Jeffs celebrated Diwali with the Indian diaspora and the Asian American community at an event organized by the Khalsa Asian American Association in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.
