Diljit Dosanjh tops Abhishek Bachchan to win Best Actor at Critics Choice Awards 2025

The Film Critics Guild announced the Critics’ Choice Awards 2025 winners. This year, they introduced the Best Documentary category, which Nocturnes won for its powerful storytelling.

In the Feature Film section, “All We Imagine As Light” claimed Best Feature Film for its compelling narrative. Diljit Dosanjh won Best Actor for “Amar Singh Chamkila.” He thanked the Film Critics Guild and dedicated the award to Amar Singh Chamkila and director Imtiaz Ali. Darshana Rajendran earned Best Actress for her gripping role in “Paradise.” Ravi Kishan took home Best Supporting Actor for “Laapataa Ladies,” while Kani Kusruti won Best Supporting Actress for “Girls Will Be Girls.”

The Web Series category saw “Poacher” dominate, winning Best Web Series. Nimisha Sajayan earned Best Actress for her role in “Poacher,” while Barun Sobti won Best Actor for “Raat Jawaan Hai.” Dibyendu Bhattacharya secured Best Supporting Actor for “Poacher,” and Kani Kusruti added another win with Best Supporting Actress for the same series.

In Short Films, “Obur” swept multiple categories, including Best Short Film. Harish Khanna won Best Actor for “Jal Tu Jalaal Tu,” and Jyoti Dogra earned Best Actress for “Taak (Tracker).” Faraz Ali won Best Director for “Obur,” while Anand Bansal took the Best Cinematography award for the same film.

“Obur” also claimed the Best Writing award, further highlighting its creative excellence. Other nominees like “IYKYK” and “Virundhu” offered strong competition but fell short in major categories.

In the documentary section, “Nocturnes” stood out, winning Best Documentary for its impactful narrative. Competitors included “Against the Tide” and “The Midwife’s Confession,” but “Nocturnes” emerged victorious.

In Feature Films, Payal Kapadia won Best Director for “All We Imagine As Light.” Diljit Dosanjh edged out strong contenders like Abhishek Bachchan to win Best Actor. Darshana Rajendran’s emotional performance in “Paradise” earned her Best Actress. Ravi Kishan’s work in “Laapataa Ladies” secured him Best Supporting Actor. Kani Kusruti earned her second award of the night, winning Best Supporting Actress for “Girls Will Be Girls.”

The Gender Sensitivity Award went to “Girls Will Be Girls” for promoting thoughtful gender representation. Anand Ekarshi won Best Writing for “Aattam,” while Ranabir Das took Best Cinematography for “All We Imagine As Light.” Shivkumar V. Panicker earned Best Editing for “Kill.”

Richie Mehta won Best Director in the Web Series category for “Poacher.” Other standout performances included Mihir Godbole in “Lampan” and Ravi Kishan in “Maamla Legal Hai.”

The Critics’ Choice Awards 2025 showcased diverse storytelling across feature films, web series, and short films. Winners like Diljit Dosanjh, Darshana Rajendran, and “Obur” highlighted the industry’s artistic excellence.
