Dhawan credits trust factor for successful opening partnerships with Rohit
New Delhi, June 11 (HS): India opener Shikhar Dhawan said his partnership with fellow batsman Rohit Sharma has been successful because of the trust factor between them.
Dhawan and Rohit have had 16 century partnerships so far , and are jointly on the second spot with Australia’s Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist for the most century partnerships. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar are on top in this list with 21 century partnerships.
In an Instagram live session with his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capital, Dhawan said, “I have known him (Rohit) since the days of Under-19. He was a couple years junior to me and then we came to the camp together. We trust each other and have a very good friendship, and that’s what works for us. We know each other’s nature and character. I know how he is exactly . It’s a matter of pride that we have done so much good for India.”
Dhawan said his off-the-field chemistry with Rohit also worked very well for them.
He said, “When there is harmony with each other it brings positive energy to you. Whenever I have a problem with batting I ask him. We have a strong communication between us. We travel together for 230 days a year. The whole team India is like one big family.”
