After Delhi’s first winter rain, residents woke up to a chilly Monday as temperatures dropped to 8.2°C, below the season’s average. Meteorologists attributed the drop to Sunday’s isolated rains and increased wind speeds. According to the IMD, temperatures may plunge further to 6°C by December 10, ushering in a cold wave that could persist until December 14.
Neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh will also face similar conditions. Clear skies are expected later this week, but moderate fog may linger on December 10 and 11. From December 12 to 14, a mild western disturbance could bring light fog, keeping minimum temperatures between 6°C and 8°C and maximums near 25°C.
Despite the weather shift, Delhi’s air quality remains poor. The CPCB recorded an AQI of 212 on Monday morning, highlighting pollution challenges alongside the cold wave.
