Delhi violence: CM Kejriwal calls an emergency meeting, appeals to stop violence

New Delhi, Feb 25 (HS): Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has called an emergency meeting at his home for the Delhi violence. In this meeting, legislators from the violence-hit areas, principal secretary, home secretary, and other big officials have been called. This meeting will start at 10.30 in the morning. After the ruckus, about half a dozen MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reached the Lt. Governor’s house and demanded to stop the violence.

Before this meeting, CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted and appealed to the people to maintain peace. Kejriwal wrote in his tweet, I am  worried about prevailing situation in certain parts of Delhi. All of us together should  make all efforts to restore peace in our city. I again urge everyone to shun violence

There was fierce violence on Monday in North-East Delhi over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Stones and arson occurred in seven places in north-east Delhi. Photos of violence were seen in different areas including Zafarabad, Maujpur, Gokalpuri, Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Ghonda Chowk. So far 5 people have died in the Delhi violence, including the head constable Ratanlal. The remaining 4 are common people.

Half a dozen MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reached the house of Lt. Governor Anil Baijal on Monday night after violence in the day. Minister Gopal Rai, Minister Imran Hussain, MLAs Dilip Pandey, Sanjeev Jha, Akhileshapati Tripathi, and Amanatullah Khan had reached, but the Lt. Governor did not meet them. However, as the Governor’s representative, Special Commissioner Rajesh Khurana met the MLAs and assured of action.

After this, Minister Gopal Rai said, ‘Special commissioner Rajesh Khurana, representative of the Deputy Governor Sahab, assured the safety of the public. By obeying the police, we are going back home. If any incident happens then we will reach LG House.
