Delhi Polls: AAP unveils manifesto with 15 bold guarantees
AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal released the party’s manifesto on Monday ahead of the Delhi assembly elections next month. The manifesto promises 15 guarantees, focusing on welfare, employment, and infrastructure.
Kejriwal highlighted job creation as the first guarantee, pledging robust employment opportunities for Delhi residents. Under the Mahila Samman Yojana, women will receive ₹2,100 monthly financial support. Senior citizens will benefit from free healthcare through the Sanjeevani Yojana.
AAP also promised to waive outstanding “hiked” water bills and provide 24/7 clean drinking water to every household. The manifesto includes cleaning the Yamuna River and upgrading Delhi’s roads to global standards.
Students will receive free bus rides and a 50% discount on metro fares. Scholarships for SC and ST students under the Babasaheb Ambedkar Scholarship Yojana aim to support their studies abroad. Priests and Gurudwara Granthis will get ₹18,000 monthly aid, while tenants will enjoy extended free electricity and water benefits.
The party pledged to enhance the sewage system, issue ration cards to the excluded, and offer financial aid to auto and cab drivers, including ₹1 lakh for their daughters’ weddings and ₹10 lakh in insurance. Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) will receive funding for security and safety initiatives.
Kejriwal accused the BJP of copying AAP’s guarantees, stating, “We fulfil our guarantees; they don’t.” Meanwhile, BJP released its manifesto, promising ownership rights in unauthorized colonies, Yamuna cleaning within three years, and free healthcare worth ₹10 lakh under the Ayushman Scheme.
AAP alleged that BJP plans to stop welfare schemes if elected. Kejriwal asked voters if they could bear losing these benefits. The elections are set for February 5, with vote counting on February 8. AAP’s manifesto reinforces its focus on welfare and governance to secure another term in Delhi.
