Delhi Election 2020: Voting on February 8, Result on February 11.
New Delhi, Jan 06(HS): The dates for the assembly elections in Delhi have been announced. Votes will be cast in the state on February 8 and results will be announced on February 11. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced the election dates on Monday.
Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari has said that the whole fight is on development & nationalism and amidst the present chaos. He said that the results are due on Tuesday thus have a good relationship with Mars. BJP is known for Mars. Taking a dig at the Kejriwal government, he said that traders are upset with the inflated power bill of state electricity dept and BJP will thrive to solve all the problems of Delhi.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said in a press conference on Monday that Delhi has a total of 70 assembly seats, the term of the assembly is ending on 22 February 2020. Concerning the law and order situation in Delhi, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said, “We have interacted with the Delhi Police. We have their written commitment. We have had a talk with the chief secretary as well. I won’t say we are sanguine but we are hopeful that they will be able to control the situation. “
Reacting to the announcement of poll dates in Delhi, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said, “In Delhi, every worker and voter of AAP is ready. Arvind Kejriwal has given good governance in the past five years and we have to make a hardworking CM win.”
Addressing a press conference after the announcement of Delhi assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal says these elections will be fought on the work done in the last five years. “BJP controls the Delhi Police, Municipal corporation and DDA whereas our party controls education, electricity, roads, water supply, and construction work. People of Delhi will now decide which party did a better job. If you think we have not done any work, do not vote for us.”
“I worked for the whole of Delhi – not looking at who is our supporter, who is BJP’s and Congress’. Delhi elections will not be fought on CAA, It will be fought on roads, electricity, water, and development. We only want to work for development, nothing else,” Kejriwal said.
Delhi BJP MP Gautam Gambhir says his party will try and make Delhi a better place after winning the elections. Gautam Gambhir, BJP MP from East Delhi on Delhi assembly polls: We will try to make Delhi a better place to live in, where we can get better air quality and water, and also the better infrastructure for people of Delhi. Delhi will get a better government once BJP comes to power he added.
