Defense Expo: Preparing to run saws on 64,000 trees off the banks of Gomti in Lucknow

Lucknow, Nov 29 (HS): Preparations are being made to remove 64,000 trees from the banks of Gomti River for the Defense Expo 2020 to be held in February next year in the capital city of Lucknow. The government has asked to remove 63,799 trees for the Defense Expo. During the Defense Expo, these preparations are being made to remove trees for the display of military equipment and other facilities. According to sources, a proposal has been sent to remove trees along the banks of Gomti from Hanuman Setu to Nishatganj. After the Defense Expo is over, new trees will be planted on Gomti edges.

The Development Authority (LDA) has demanded Rs 59 lakh from the Municipal Corporation for planting trees again. LDA says that Rs 59,06,827 was spent to plant these trees along the banks of Gomti. For this, LDA Secretary MP Singh has written a letter to the Municipal Commissioner. In fact, the amount spent from the Municipal Commissioner has been sought after the letter in which the Municipal Corporation had asked to displace the saplings located on the Gomti coast elsewhere for organizing the Defense Expo. The Secretary has asked the Municipal Corporation to take NOC from the Irrigation and Forest Department along with the demand for money.

MP Singh said that due to the winter season, it is not possible to displace the plants. This will destroy [plants, greenery, and landscaping. In such a situation, to put greenery again, the money will be needed. For this, a letter has been written to the Municipal Commissioner.

The District Magistrate has given these orders to the concerned departments on Thursday. The DM has also said that people will have to make seating arrangements on both the banks of Gomti. Earlier it was proposed on one side only.

For the first time, the event being held in Lucknow, tell us that this will be the first time when Lucknow will host ‘The Defexpo’. Representatives of a large number of leading countries will also be involved in this. The official said that big foreign and indigenous companies will display their state-of-the-art weapons in this exhibition. Their eyes will be on the profitable military market of the world’s largest arms importer.

Defense Expo to be held from 5 to 8 February The theme of the 11th Defense Expo India -2020, to be held next year from 5 to 8 February in Lucknow is ‘India Emerging Defense Manufacturing Center’. The exhibition of state-of-the-art weapons will be put up in this fair, which is going to be held in the fast-growing Uttar Pradesh in the defense sector.
