Defence Secretary finds place in ‘Fame India’ list
New Delhi, May 28 (HS): India’s defence secretary, Dr. Ajay Kumar, has been named at 31st position in the ’50 influential Indians’ list that has been released by Fame India magazine recently. The IAS officer that took over the charge as Defence Secretary on August 23 last year, has done many important works to promote ‘Make in India’ in the field of defence production, one of which is the Defence Expo.
Prior to Dr. Kumar, Sanjay Mitra was holding the position of Defence Secretary. Dr. Kumar is known as ‘Secretary of Excellence’. A 1985 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre, Kumar was born on 2 October 1962 in Uttar Pradesh and studied electrical engineering from IIT Kanpur. He is the 39th Defence Production Secretary of India. Prior to this, he has held various positions in the Government of Kerala as Principal Secretary (Information Technology), Managing Director of Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation, Secretary (Industry), Kerala State Co-Managing Director.
