Defence Minister to chair high level review meeting on Ladakh stand off
New Delhi, June 21 (HS): In the backdrop of escalated border tensions and standoff with China in Eastern Ladakh region, especially post June 15 incident, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday was set to chair a high-level review meeting with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and the three Defence Services Chiefs.
The meeting had been called to review the current situation at Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh region after the June 15 incident in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed and many others seriously injured in a one-to-one scuffle between the two armies that took place after the Chinese forces tried to intrude into Indian territories across the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Sources said that after the brawl, Chinese forces had deescalated some of their establishments that were erected next to LAC. Sources further said that during the meeting, Defence Minister would be briefed about latest update on the Indo-China border.
Meanwhile, the Army and Air Force Chiefs have recently asserted that they were ready to combat any situation if arose further at LAC in the region.
