DDC Rajouri convenes meeting regarding identification of land for the establishment of Solid Waste Management Project …
Rajouri, Jan,04 (HS): In order to discuss and finalize identification of suitable land for the establishment of Solid Waste Management Project/dumping site for Municipality Rajouri, Thanamandi and Kalakote, the District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today convened a meeting with the concerned officers here in the Conference Hall of DDC office Complex.
During the meeting, the DDC sought a detailed report from the concerned officers regarding the availability of suitable land for the safe and environmentally friendly disposal of solid waste who in turn briefed the chair about the same in the area of their respective jurisdiction.ADC Kalakote informed that 100 canals of land stands identified where solid waste management units can be established. The concerned officers from the pollution control board and tehsildar kalakote have been directed to visit the site so that necessary action can be taken at the earliest. Similarly, in Thanamandi, Subdivisional Magistrate said that 10 kanals of land are available for the establishment of the unit.
DDC while speaking during the meeting said that the segregation of solid waste is very important to reduce its harmful effects on health and the environment. He asked the concerned officers to generate awareness among the public about the ill effects of solid waste and the benefits of a clean and healthy environment.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Sher Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Behnal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kalakote Ved Prakash, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Koteranka Sudarshan Sharma, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Mohd Ashraf, Subdivisional Magistrate Thanamandi, Mohd Tanveer, District Panchayat officer Dr.Abdul Khabir, Executive Officer Municipality Rajouri/Thanamandi & Kalakote and concerned Tehsildars.
