Danish Kaneria appeals PCB to lift lifelong ban
Karachi, June 15 (HS) Former Pakistan spin bowler Danish Kaneria has appealed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to lift the life ban imposed on him, expressing his desire to play domestic cricket.
Kaneria, who was found guilty of fixing while playing for Essex in English county cricket against Durham in 2009, was banned for life by the PCB in 2013. After which, he has been seeking help from PCB for a long time.
In a letter to Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ehsan Mani, 39-year-old Kaneria has requested him to revoke the ban.
On several occasions before this, Kaneria has argued that if past criminals like Mohammad Aamir and Salman Butt could be allowed to play even after their restrictions, why should he be given this chance.
Kaneria is the only Hindu to play for Pakistan after his maternal uncle Anil Dalpat and has taken 261 wickets in 61 Tests while playing for Pakistan. He is also the highest wicket-taking spin bowler for Pakistan in Test cricket.
