Cyclone Fengal hits Karnataka: IMD warns of heavy rainfall and intense weather
Cyclone Fengal is bringing heavy rainfall to Karnataka, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and local authorities to issue warnings. The cyclone’s remnants are moving toward the west-northwest over the east-central Arabian Sea, with districts like Udupi, Shivamogga, Mangaluru, and Dakshin Kannada on orange alert.
The IMD forecasts that the cyclone will maintain its intensity for the next 24 hours before weakening. Fishermen have been advised to stay away from certain areas to ensure their safety.
In response to the threat, the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, Mullai Muhilan, announced holidays for schools and pre-university colleges in the district. Authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions, stay informed, and follow updates to stay safe.
