A major cyber attack crippled Uttarakhand’s government system, forcing a complete shutdown of the state’s IT infrastructure for 72 hours. As a result, essential services, including the CM Helpline, Land Registry, and E-Office, went offline, halting work across various departments, including the Secretariat.

The attack affected 186 government websites, causing widespread disruption. Experts confirmed that even the state’s Secure Internet Service, UK Swan, and the main data center were compromised. One by one, websites shut down, and key operations were paused. Some sites have been restored, while the IT department is working to secure the remaining ones.

Nitika Khandelwal, Director of the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA), stated that the team is following central government guidelines to ensure security. She confirmed that the data center has been shut down for scanning and that all websites will undergo thorough checks before being fully restored.

Despite the scale of the attack, Khandelwal assured that there has been no data loss. The ITDA is working tirelessly to recover and secure the systems, scanning all 186 websites to ensure future safety.
