Cricket T10 format better for Olympic and Commonwealth Games: Eoin Morgan
London,06 May(HS): Captain Eoin Morgan, who won England’s first World Cup under his captaincy, says that the 10-over format of cricket will prove to be great for a global multi-sport competition. He said that on a big sports platform like Olympics and Commonwealth Games, the entire tournament can be completed in 10 days.
“One thing that makes T10 different from all other formats is that you can finish it comfortably within 10 days at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games,” Morgan said in a video conference.
He said, “If you can play a cricket tournament in eight to ten days in such a short time frame, it really makes it attractive, and above that, it will be very entertaining.”
Cricket was also played in the 1900 Olympic Games and the 1998 Commonwealth Games but has been absent in most multi-sport events.
There will be a women’s T20 competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, but Morgan says the T10 format will be better than T20, 50 overs and Test cricket.
Morgan, 33, also captained the Delhi Bulls team in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
