CPI (ML) Liberation demands no electricity bill to consumers for March and April

Kolkata,28 March(HS): The West Bengal state unit of CPI (ML) Liberation today urged the West Bengal State Electricity Corporation and CESC (Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation) not to send electricity bills for the months of March and April 2020 along with any additional charges to their consumers in the wake of the current locked-down situation because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement here this afternoon Partha Ghosh, State Secretary CPI (ML) Liberation West Bengal said ‘as the country was going through a very difficult time and the government has declared a complete locked down for the people, the poor and the economically downtrodden have no income during this period. So, in view of the current situation, we urge upon both the WBSEB and the CESC to please consider all the bill defaulters for the month of March and April 2020 and don’t add any additional charges or late submission fine on their respective billing amount. We also request you to lower down the basic unit prices because this Corona pandemic will bring a huge economic hardship to the common people and many of them will be unable to afford this high electricity charges. Please also stop all the disconnection notices for the month of March and April 2020’.
