CPI-M wonders the denial of TMC minister in Bengal Assembly
Kolkata, 27 June (HS): Cpi-m Chief Whip in the West Bengal State Legislative Assembly Sujan Chakraborty today ridiculed senior TMC leader and state minister Tapas Ray for ‘flatly denying’ the Chief minister’s open remarks inside the house yesterday seeking help from Congress and Cpi-m to defeat BJP.
‘We find it hard to believe that how Chief minister Mamata Banerjee after making such an appeal in an open forum and inside the August house yesterday, could allow one of her ministers to issue the denial’, Chakraborty said after staging a Walk Out from the house this afternoon in protest against the Ray’s denial through a Point of Information at the fag end of the Question Hour.
‘When we all heard her speech as we were present in the house, and she requested us to seriously consider her appeal which both myself and Abdul Mannan of Congress had denied, then how come one of her ministers came to the house and made an outright false statement’, the Cpi-m leader as well as its State Committee member questioned.
Referring to Ray’s citing of several newspaper reports and claiming them as ‘false and fabricated to allegedly undermine the image of the Chief minister’,Chakraborty said if they were serious enough, they could have brought a Privilage Motion against all these newspapers, who according to them reported wrongly, in the house today.
But instead of that they brought a mere Point of Information to dilute the seriousness of the whole issue, he claimed.
It may be recalled that soon after the Chief minister made her appeal to the opposition, both Chakrabory and Mannan turned down her proposal on behalf of Cpi-m and the Congress respectively and blamed the ruling TMC for being responsible of killing and assaulting large number of their party supporters during last few years to establish its unquestioned political supremacy in West Bengal since 2011. ‘We have not forgotten those days’, he reiterated.
