COVID-19 toll in Bengal goes up to 7

Kolkata,13 April(HS): With the death of two more people during the last 24 hours in different hospitals, the COVID-19 toll in West Bengal has now gone up to 7 as another 95 people have tested positive and are being treated in different districts.

Announcing the death of two more patients since yesterday taking the COVID-19 from 5 to 7 till today, the medical bulletin issued by the state Health Department, however, did not give any other information about any of the deceased.

Reiterating that of the total 2085 people admitted in the different hospital so far on suspicion that they were affected by Corona Virus, the Bulletin said till last night 1756 of them were released after their tests were found negative.

So far 2523 tests were conducted in the state and sent 329 people to isolation as a preventive measure. Besides over 40,500 people had been asked to remain in self-quarantine in their homes, the bulletin said.

Referring to all-out measures taken by the state government to properly fight COVID-19, official sources here today said following reports of more people getting affected by the killer virus, as many as 598 quarantine centres had been set up in different districts.

Meanwhile, in order to meet the huge gap between the demand and supply of protective masks and gloves in the state, the West Bengal government has streamlined a number of Medium and Small scale industries in the state and asked them to produce these items on top priority basis after getting the necessary clearance from the Health Department.
