Corpse of the two-year-old boy recovered from borewell in Tamil Nadu
New Delhi, Oct.29 (HS): The corpse of the two-year-old boy, who was stuck in an abandoned borewell near Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu since Friday has been recovered.
The body has been taken to the Manapparai government hospital for a postmortem. Speaking to the media, State Commissioner of Revenue Administration, J. Radhakrishnan said the body of the child was dismembered and in a highly decomposed state.
Radhakrishnan further said those posted near the borewell observed foul smell around 10.30 pm last night following which medical personnel and teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) assessed the situation.
The digging process was stopped soon after the body was located inside the borewell. Sujith Wilson was playing near the abandoned well on Friday evening, when he fell inside. Progress in the rescue mission was slow because of rocky terrain.
A parallel tunnel was dug to reach the boy and oxygen pumped into the passage to enable him to survive but in-vain he is no more.
