Coronavirus Outbreak: BWF suspended all the tournaments till April 12
New Delhi, 15 March (HS): The impact of the fast spreading Coronavirus in the world is now visible on badminton. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced that all badminton competitions will be suspended until 12 April.
BWF gave this information by tweeting on his Twitter account saying “BWF prohibits all World Tour tournaments and all tournaments related to BWF from 16 March to 12 April. All England Badminton Championship to continue based on UK government advice. “
BWF further wrote that, with the advice of all the members, tournaments are being stopped at this time, because there are many restrictions on the players’ travelling around the world. The Federation cares about the health of all players, members and officials.
From next week, Swiss Open, Indian Open, Orlene’s Masters, Malaysia Open and Singapore Open will no longer be held in time. However, the All England Championship will continue as advised by the UK Government.
So far more than one lakh thirty thousand people have been affected due to Coronavirus and more than five thousand people have died.
