Congress to contest UP Panchayat Polls on local issues : Ajay Lallu
Lucknow, 16 March (HS) :The President of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Ajay Kr Lallu has said that his party will contest the three tier panchayat polls in the state on local issues. The UPCC President on Tuesday also organised a meeting of senior party leaders to discuss party’s poll strategy.
Ajay Kr Lallu while speaking in the meeting said that the Congress will field the dedicated party workers in the panchayat poll. He asked the party’s public representatives and office bearers to select the suitable candidates.
Senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari, Nasimuddin Siddiqui and others also spoke on the occasion.
It is learnt that the Congress is seeing the panchayat polls as an opportunity to revive the party in UP. That why the party had launched a grass root election plan about four months back and party’s UP in-charge Priyanka Ganghi Vadra was also seen active in the state.
Besides Congress other political parties including the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and the Aam Admi Party are also preparing for the pachayat polls which is being held before the assembly elections. The three tier panchayat polls in the state may take place in the month of May.
