Congress nominates Mallikarjun Kharge as RS candidate from Karnataka
New Delhi, June 5 (HS) The Congress on Friday nominated Mallikarjun Kharge as the party’s Rajya Sabha candidate from Karnataka.
According to a statement issued by party general secretary Mukul Wasnik, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the name of former Union Minister Mallikarjun Kharge for the candidature.
It may be mentioned that Mallikarjun Kharge had been an MLA for nine consecutive terms since 1972 and was elected MP twice. However, he was defeated in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Gulbarga which was very shocking as it had been a stronghold of congress party for many years.
